Mandated ICD-10-CM Implementation Delayed Again

Despite the fact that healthcare practitioners and educational providers have been gearing up for a mandated change to the ICD-10 coding system in October 2014, new legislation has now pushed the ICD-10 compliance deadline to October 2015 at the earliest. This poses a dilemma for both schools and certifying bodies. Some educational programs are already teaching ICD-10 coding, while others are still using ICD-9 code sets.
